This is just hilarious… In the 80s, one of my best friends permed and coloured our hair at her house… We’d skip school (bad, bad girls), pick up our hair products from the pharmacy and head over to her house after her parents had left for school. Her basement was the ‘hair transformation’ room. Not only did we have BIG permed hair, but we also bleached it with peroxide! It seemed like a good idea at the time…now it’s good for a laugh when I share those days with my kids! Great site! I’m glad I found it.

When I think of how many hours I wasted styling and how many CFCs I released into the atmosphere with hairspray on my 80’s hairdos, I’m ashamed. But I’m going to dig through the photo albums anyway and see if I can come up with anything for your challenge, Robin.

In the 80’s I was the person giving in-homes perms to all my neighbors, relatives, friends for the ‘big-hair’ look to die for. My own fine hair had to be permed and sprayed to high heaven to get the look. I’ll try to round up some photos but I can’t promise finding any worthy of scanning.

Man… I didn’t get to have much fun in the 80s; I wasn’t officially a teenager until 1989 when I turned 13! So all of my crazy teenage hairdos are grunge inspired instead of Flashdancesque. Bummer.

I once shaved off the back half of my hair, though. My Mom didn’t know about that until she came to my basketball game a couple of days later. (My hair is so thick that when it’s down, it just looked like a normal head of hair for once.) I ran out onto the court and HEARD her gasp. lol.

Hey, it was the 70s – everybody looked bad. I’ll have to hunt for my 80s big hair photos, although in 1984, I had my hair cut very short & spiky.

Well, with straight fine hair, you can now have the Jennifer Aniston look, instead of trying to have the Farrah Fawcett of the 80’s look. Or just wear it short and let it go at that. Easier to take care of, and doesn’t get in the way while in the garden.
I wish I could just throw together some plants like that and get them to come together as well as you have, and to bloom in concert as well. They all look good together, which is what counts anyway!
